Create and review an audio description project

Updated 31 October 2026

An audio description project creates spoken narration that explains what is happening on screen for blind and low-vision viewers. EYZFlow analyses your video, generates a narration script that fits between dialogue, and lets you review and edit the script before voicing it. The voiced narration is mixed under the soundtrack as a described audio track that you can download or add to a stream.

Create a project

  1. Open Projects and select Add new.
  2. Select Audio Description.
  3. Enter a Project name, then add a video by dropping a file on the page, choosing a stream, or choosing a file from Vault. Links are not supported.
  4. If the video has multiple audio tracks, choose the track under Audio to mix under. Dialogue from this track determines where descriptions fit, and the narration is mixed under it.
  5. Select Continue, review the cost, and select Start.

The project progresses through job submission, video analysis, and narration script generation. When the script is ready, the project opens for review. Audio description uses compute credits based on the video's duration. For details, see Compute credits and AI tool billing.

Creating an audio description project requires the Create Audio Descriptions permission. Viewing audio description projects and estimates requires View Audio Description Tool. Choosing a video from Vault also requires View Vault.

Understand project status

An audio description project can have these statuses:

  • Pending
  • Analyzing video
  • Writing script
  • Ready for review
  • Voicing narration
  • Completed
  • Failed
  • Cancelled

The progress card shows the stages from job submission through video analysis, script generation, voicing, and creation of the audio description track.

Review the narration script

On the project page:

  • Use the player to watch the video. The current narration line appears over the picture.
  • Use the timeline to select a line, jump to it, or move the playhead. Zoom with −, Fit, and +, or hold Command or Control while scrolling.
  • In the Narration script panel, review each line's start and end times, scene, and word count compared with the words that fit in the gap, such as 12/18 words.
  • Select Play line to move the video to a line.
  • Lines that are longer than their available gap are marked in amber.
  • Before voicing, the player uses the original sound. After voicing, switch between the original audio and With description.

Edit a narration line

  1. Select Edit line (the pencil icon).
  2. Change the text in the editing box. The word count indicates whether the text fits at normal narration speed, for example, fits 3s or over budget for 3s.
  3. Select Save line, or press Command+Enter. Select Cancel to keep the previous text.

A line cannot be empty. An edited line is marked Edited until it is voiced again. Use Undo and Redo to step through changes. The script is locked while narration is being voiced.

Editing lines, changing times, adding or deleting lines, and using undo and redo require the Create Audio Descriptions permission. Without that permission, the project page is read-only: you can play the video and read the script.

Change when a line is spoken

You can change a line's timing in either of these ways:

  • Enter a new start or end time in the line's time fields and press Enter. Press Escape to undo the typed change.
  • Drag the line's block on the timeline to move it, or drag its right edge to change its end point.

A line must be at least half a second long. If it extends beyond the dialogue gap, trim the text or extend the end point.

Add or delete a line

To add a line:

  1. Move the playhead to where the description should begin.
  2. Select Add description at … below the timeline. The new line is up to three seconds long, or ends at the next line if that comes first.
  3. Enter the description and select Save line.

To delete a line, select Delete line (the bin icon) on that line. A script must contain at least one line.

Rewrite the script

  1. At the top of the Narration script panel, choose a Narration density: Sparse, Standard, or Rich.
  2. Select Rewrite all.

Rewriting creates a new script from the video analysis and replaces the previous script, including its edits and undo history. This option is unavailable while EYZFlow is working on the project and requires the Create Audio Descriptions permission.

Voice the narration

When the script is ready:

  1. Choose a Narrator voice: Female voice or Male voice.
  2. Choose a Narration quality: Premium quality or Normal quality.
  3. Select Voice the narration.

The project changes to Voicing narration, and the script is locked until voicing finishes. The project is Completed when the audio description track has been mixed.

After you edit lines, Re-voice voices only the changed lines and reuses the existing audio for unchanged lines. The changed-line count appears on the button, and only those lines are charged. If voicing fails, select Retry voicing. Voicing requires the Create Audio Descriptions permission.

Download or add the described audio to a stream

When the audio is ready, select Download audio to download the audio with narration mixed in. If the script changed after the most recent voicing, the download option is labelled Download previous audio and does not include those latest edits; re-voice the narration to hear them.

For a project created from a stream, select Add to stream after the audio is ready. The button changes to Added to stream when the action is complete. Adding the track to a stream requires the Create Audio Descriptions permission.
